One of the things that one First Lutheran member does for the Pantry is shopping, finding sales at King Soopers, Safeway, Big Lots, etc for miscellaneous items. Recently she found Chef-Boy-R-Dee cans for 10 for $10 at King Soopers and bought 140 cans. She requested help to load her car with all these cans. The young man who helped asked what charity these cans were for and she described the Little Pantry. He relayed his emotional story to her with appreciation for the Pantry. This young man had been in a difficult way before finding employment with King Soopers and had relied on places like the Little Pantry for subsistence.
First Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Little Free Pantry, with Christ’s help, is offering our love and support for the homeless in Longmont. It has been a congregational-supported activity since 2020. The pantry is filled daily with food that provides calories, protein, and hydration. Food items need to be easy to eat and not necessarily require cooking. We also provide forks and/or spoons, dental care packets, personal hygiene products and socks!
